Well, I was looking around some online stores and for some reason it seems the black GC is about 100SEK (that is about $10/€10) cheaper than the purple one, why is that? As far as I can tell, there was nothing different about the packages, just the base stuff was in both. Seeing as the Cube is so much cheaper now, I might buy it, cos it does have quite a few exclusives I would like to try. Also since I don't wanna start another topic, is there any must have peripherals other than the wireless controller?
Strange. I bought a Black one In the uk and there was no difference in price. I just didnt like the purple one. The only peripheral I can think of you might need is the Free Loader disc, but thats only if you want to buy import games. Oh and a couple of memory cards helps. They get filled up quite quickly.
Yeah, the price difference threw me off a bit, could be something like the different versions of PS2? I definetly want the black one too tho, the purple just looks a bit um childish I don't think I will play imports, I think all the games I want are already available, but good to know there is way to get them to work too. What about games? Metroid Prime and Wind Waker is on the list and I do want the other Zeldas as well (those are in the collectors version tho, right?). Beyond those I have no idea tho, I like mostly RPGs and since I have a PS2 I want the ones that are not available for it, since it will still stay as my main console. And don's suggest anything with Mario Bros I absolute hate them
I was going to suggest Luigis mansion but I wont now, even though it isnt a typical Mario bros game *lol* . The Two Rogue Leader games are superb. If you like RPG's theres Skies of Arcadia deluxe edition ( think thats what its called ), Pikmin is good if you like that kind of thing. F-Zero GX seems to be making everyone go all googly eyed at the moment as well. Resident Evil and Resident Evil 0 are superb. Eternal darkness, though I havent played it yet, is supposed to be very very good, oh and Super Smash Bros Melee . Theres loads more but my minds gone blank atm *blink* always does when I try to remember games titles, even when people ask me what games I have. As for Zelda Special edition it includes Wind Waker ( of course ) Ocarina of time Masters quest ( which is a remix of Ocarina to make it alot harder) Rumours of older Zelda games be released in packs are circulating, wouldnt bet against it. GC is worth buying because as you said its cheap as hell atm and the games catalog is worthy to say the least. I have all the consoles but the GC gets the most playtime lately. Hope that helps
Sure does, thanks, oh yeah, "Skies Of Whichever..." did seem quite interesting and like you said, there is a lot of games for it as well. I will have to see about buying it after I get my PS2 modded, which funny enough costs more than the CG hahah See the reason I am asking about the Zelda, because I found this offered with a GC, unfortunately it comes with a Mario game too *hurl* But I think I should get it, since it seems to only be available with a new console. Of course I have to get WW as well, but I would like to have the older Zeldas as well, mainly Ocarina and Majora's since I haven't played those, I did play the original way back in the day tho Heh, I have the same problem when I think of game titles haha
http://www.nintendo.com/zeldaclassic/ Current gamecube owners can get it too as well YAY! I wont get it though, the only one i havent got is Zelda II. Ocarina btw is a superb game in every aspect. You will enjoy it
If you are in to RPGS exclusively on Cube then i recon it has to be Baiton Kaitos (Wierd name yes but it is meant to be deeper than a black hole with 4 ppl playing at one this sounds awsem.). It is not out until 2004 mind. Also Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicals is set to be one of the best FF ever. I have never played them but it features stuff that will "blow you away". You dont seem to like Mario so obviously you'l avoid em but if Mario 128 ever turns its head up i think you might change your mind... For extra gadgets I recon you might want to purchase the Modem (expencive) to play Phantasy Star Online (Which is a very good alien battling game in space) or wait until PSO 3 arives. Getting a Datel 64Mg is good because it will not run out any time soon about £15 and cheaper than the official ones. For games then ere are a few exclusives I recons: RPGS: FF Crystal Chronicals, FF Tactics, Baiton Kaitos(TB released), Phantasy Star Online 1,2 (and 3 TBR), Action/Adventure: Zelda Wind Waker, Star Fox(decent Rare game), Viewtiful Joe(Sweet), Dead Phoenix (TBR), Star Wars RL3, FPS: Giest(TBR), Game Zero (by the coders that left Rare and made Perfect dark -- not Free Radicals TBR), PN03 (more of a 3rd person), Horror: Eternal Darkness (Wow!), Resident Evil Remake and Zero (Forget anything you have played on PS2 as these will blow you away!!!), hush-Luigis Mansion (Trust me it is really quite good!), Resident Evil 4(i cant wait for this beast) Racing: Mario Kart DD(GET THIS), F-Zero GX(incredible), Pilot Wings(I hope this comes out soon) Excitebike (I hope this comes out soon) And of course some great games: Simpsons hit and run, Time splitters 2, Die Hard Vendetta, Driver 3(TBR), Star Craft, etc...
Hmm, I don't think the network adapter is so expensive, but do you have to pay to play the online games and does it work in the same way as PS2 online, as in with any ADSL connection? Have to see if I can find that Datel mem somewhere, might be a bit restricted on the options tho. Hmm, does the Cube have 5.1 support, haven't found anything about that?
What does quickly mean in the case of the CG? I am just wondering cos I can't seem to find anything but the 16MB cards, how far can I get with just one? I might be ordering around the 25th when I get my salary, just to be on the safe side and so I haven't forgotten anything that might take extra money.
The standard Nintendo Memory cards are not very large so they can only store a few games on at a time. That is why I recomend the Datel 64Mb one which allows for about 120 games to be saved at one time. Good luck at trying to fill it lol. I found the card i'm on about if you are interested at a great site called Play.com which i use alot. Here is a picture of the card: Here is a link to the card at abour £18 which is very good: 64Mb Mem Card However a 16Mb card will be more than acceptable. Online Gaming is not the main view point for the Cube but there are games like Phantasy Star Online which are and more and more are using LAN as an option for networking games. Head down to Warp Pipe.com for information on how to play great games like Mario Kart, 1080 Snowboarding etc over the net with your friends for free!. To play PSO 1,2 or 3 you need a broadband adaptor, or modem 56K will work brilliantly. If you have a broadband connection then get one because this is the only way to play the LAN features of some games. So you have a modem and the game and with warpipe it is free (just pay for your broadband) or with PSO £5 will get you a hunters liscence (well worth doing I recon). To save money on your behalf and to optimise performance over the net you can't "surf" the net like the PS2 (But from what I have seen Sony have made it works like a slow, boring dogs ass) so you'l want to use your PC to surf the net. You can however use it to visit game specific sites allowing you to download missions, data characters or what ever. The Game Cube has full Dolby Pro Logic 2 surround sound support which is in almost every game by Nintendo and is killer in Eternal Darkness. So you can hook it up to a full surround sound system. Another thing I hear is good (although not essential) is an RGB scart lead so you get the best picture from your TV. Other than that it really is up to you what other peripherals/games you grab. Just remember that the console focuses on Multiplayer gaming (And immursing 1 player romps) with ppl in the same room as you i.e an 8 player assault match on Giest for example. It is not an all singing all dancing online gaming system which can only be the PC which is ultimately better than any thing else at online gaming for sure.
Excellent, thanks for the info and the link, even tho I will have to wait on the BB adapter for now (no one in their right mind gets a dial-up in Sweden ) but I think PSO 3 might be cool. Right now I think I will stick with the 16MB card, since I wanna order from one place, I will check into more of that later. This is my order right now: Black basesystem.............. 889SEK Wavebird........................... 419SEK 16MB Mad Catz mem card... 229SEK Metroid Prime ................... 289SEK Wind Waker ...................... 549SEK Skies Of Arcadia Legends.... 459SEK Eternal Darkness................ 199SEK Splinter Cell....................... 229SEK Resident Evil...................... 239SEK All together 3501SEK (about $/€ 350) The rest will come later, I think thats quite enough to begin with As you can see no multi-players, I live in the middle of nowhere, where the only people I could play with are work colleagues and well, there isn't too many I wanna see outside of work What do you mean by "RGB scart lead" btw, cos I have my PS2 connected without the SCART adapter that came with it, I am no sure but I think this would create better image, can't really see the difference tho.
The connector you had on your Ps2 isn't really a proper RGB lead. The difference is huge if you have a decent tv. Colours are a hell of alot brighter and the picture is soooo much more clearer. I found it stopped me getting headaches when playing certain games as well. I have all my machines connected by rgb scart now, as well as my dvd players and satelite system. Whenever I watch normal connected dvd's/consoles i notice how good RGB really is.
Are you talking about the SCART now, cos I am not using that, I have the connectors from the AV-cable going to the TV, you know the yellow for video, red and white for sound. Ugh, this is why I hate TVs and all the different ways to connect to them and of course all the lovely names for the techs, which seem to change from company to company
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=76&products_id=220 Lik sang is a good company but the postage costs me a bit much, but thats what you want for the best picture. the red yellow and white cables cant compare to the picture quality. Just get the cable and plug it into ( usually ) your av1 acart port and you will see how big the difference is
Ahaa, now I got you, I was thinking you were talking about the original cable. I think I will add that to the list and see what kind of a difference it means.
with the Game Cube you will get a composit lead(Yellow white and Red leads) which offer average picture quality. Get a scart lead and as dion said the pic will improve.
Well, I have now placed my order and it left the store on monday, so with luck I will get it this week And I did get the RGB-cable for it too, it wasn't too expensive either. Only crappy thing was that I needed to order Skies Of Whichever from another store and they haven't even assambled the order, but of course yesterday was a public holiday here, so I think that should arrive soon too. I have to say I am waiting for this one maybe even more than my PS2, there is some games, like Skies that I can't wait to play. BTW, can anyone recommend a good soccer game for the GC, I have a friend who is a huge soccer fan so it would be cool to play together with him. Basicly something that has a great single game, as well, would be optimal.
Good on you for trying the Cube. Let the fun commence!!! A good footy game is Fifa 2004 or 2003. These are very very good looking graphically incredible. One player is huge and multiplayer can have tournaments and that lark. If you already have that for your PS2 or want an exclusive Cibe title then try and import the Japanese only (Boo Nintendo release it in Europe NOW) Winning Eleven 6 which has been acclaimed to be better than the Pro Evo series on PS2. If you want to play this however you still can by buying a Freeloader disk that allows you to play region specific games on your PAL cube. You can then just pop it in the console tray, take it out and pop in WE6 and off you go. You can then play any game as soon as it comes out without having to wait for them to be released in Europe. You can get one at Play.com for a humble £10.99 great value. If you do get one tell me what they are like!
You think thats bad, I am still waiting for my copy of Resident evil that I ordered for christmas!!!!
