There are a lot of different answers to that question, it really does tend to depend on what type of games you're into.
Posting a thread like this is likely to provoke a huge inter-console slagging match between the immature noobs who hang around looking for any excuse to start one. Anyway, like MYstIC G said, it all really depends on which games you like.
It's not silly, I've got all 3 current consoles & they all have there individual strengths depending on which type of game you like to play.
Yeah i really dont know i love halo but not sure whether the xbox will last till the new gaming consoles
It will. It's currently outselling both the other consoles. Gamecube is more the more likely candidate for extinction, as, brilliant though it is, it's selling so little that stocks are clogged up with unsold consoles, and production has since halted.
lol. Maybe i shouldnt mention the 15 0r so other consoles... Its not silly, i have a fairly decent disposable income and if anything, im a collector that happens to play a lot of games. My Vectrex is worth £500 or so now (currently in germany having something done to the screen) so it is worth it if you want to get anal about it.
An X-Box is not worth buying just for Halo alone. No game is that good on it's own that it justifies purchasing an enitre console. Personally if you like Halo that much I'd see what else you might be into for the X-Box. My personal tastes there at the moment lie with MechWarrior (although the lava cannon ruins the online multiplayer now imho) and WWE Raw 2 as it's a great laugh throwing your mates off the top of a steel cage.
There's loads of great stuff coming out on Xbox soon that won't be on any others. Half Life 2 and Doom3 are just the tip of the iceberg... The only downside to Xbox (apart from its size) is how expensive it is...
Hmmmmmm I would go with the buying all 3 thing coz thats what i did but if ya cant , ya got a tough decision. A good thing to ask yourself is how much you spend on games. the reason I say this is because the ps2 has the largest budget range out of all 3 and you will be able to get some damn good titles for £20 ( assumin ure in the uk ) which is handy if you dont have a huge amount of spare cash. Gamecube also has a budget range but not as big as the ps2 range but has some damn good games like Super Smash Bros Melee and Mario Sunshine. I may be wrong but i dont think the x-box has a budget range yet, though obviously older titles are cheaper now. As for whats gonna be around in a year, the ps2 is the sure fire bet, people buy that console in their sleep. As for x-box and Gamecube, while Gamecube was selling badly, I read recntly that due to the Gamecubes price drop of late ( £79 ) it has started outselling the xbox 2 - 1 in the uk. So Gamecube could be around longer than people think, and I think the xbox has alot of life left in it as well. Personally I would choose the Gamecube but thats just personal opinion, mainly because there are more games I like on it than the other consoles, luckily I dont need to choose Also it's cheap. Like I said though it's a hard decision. Good Luck B)
There is a budget range on Xbox, but apart from PGR, MotoGP and Amped theres nowt worth getting from it. I got 007 Agent under fire from it too, but its still in clingfilm as i read its uttershite and its for modding my console like this (article only mentions MechAssault but you can do it with AOF too) http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/
I would ignore that comment about Xbox selling more than the other consoles because the PS2 is selling over 4 times the number of Xboxes and The Gamecube jumps ahead of the Xbox for a few weeks and then Xbox jumps back and then Cube goes ahead...etc I believe that if you want to be part of a trend of gamers that dont want to be different and want to blur in to the background then the PS2 is your man. However it is Technically the weakest being graphically poor in many areas with long loading times and other flaws. It does have the largest selection of games but only a mear handful of them are really good quality. It does have a DVD player but it isn't a selling point as you can nab one for about 40 quid instead of the 70 that is added to the PS2s. If you love Sci-Fi games and nought else or want to play some of the Best PC Games like Half Life 2 or Doom 3 (I.e the Xbox steals them from PC) then this is your choice. it has an online function but ppl tell me it is overused and really not as fun as playing with your mates. If you want to be a bit different and like multiplayer games with your friends that will rock for months then a Game Cube is your selection. Featuring some of the best games made ever from the Heart of the "Best Developer ever" that is Nintendo. You will experience games that can take over 70hours constant play before completing them and will have a riot with a wide range of games. People dub it as a console for kids but only because it has the variety that other consoles often lack. Nearly all of the games featured on Xbox or PS2 come out on Cube and all of the cube games are exclusive to it. Graphically games like Rogue Leader 3 blow away the competition and are the reason why the cube is a console for gamers that want quality and who dont want to have Scifi overload or infact dont want to wade through cruddy games until you find a good one PS2 style. The Cube has a few odd Titles but you dont have to look far before a golden stunner cross' your path! Out stadning
But it must cost a bomb trying to keep up wiv software releases and hardware addons etc? I dont recon I could keep up with it all! *huh*
Having all 3 (well 2 xboxs too ) it isnt that hard as there arent many AMAZING titles released all the time. When i mean amazing i mean, original, no flaws and generally just excellent games. Rarely does a game like that cross my path. Just read Edge and theyll whittle a lot down for ya B)
